Character's Canon History

Tamir spent the first fifteen years of her life as a boy, as Prince Tobin nephew to the king of Ero. This is why:

Three centuries before her birth the then King Thelatimos was in the midsts of losing war with the lands of Plenimar. Taking a brief respite, he journeyed to consult with the Oracle of Afra. The oracle told him these words: “So long as a daughter of Thelatimos’ line defends and rules, Skala shall never be subjugated.” He returned to the battlefield with his sixteen-year-old daughter Gherilain and passed her the crown and sword. The war was won and Queen Gherilain ruled for fifty years.

A long line of Queens followed and just as the Oracle foresaw Skala continued protected and prosperous. It wasn’t until Queen Agnalain, mad and ruthless, subjected her kingdom to atrocities that her her only son left alive - Prince Erius - usurped the crown claiming that the Oracle’s words were twisted and the prophecy only referred to King Thelatimos’ actual daughter. He convinced the people that he was better suited to rule than his half-sister and the seven-year-old Ariana.

Several years later, Erius continued to rule though the land has been succumbed to plagues, droughts, and an ongoing war with Plenimar. He also made sure of his place on the throne by eliminating every possible female contender even his own kin. When his sister Ariani became pregnant with twins two wizards decided it was time to set things right. Skala needed a Queen.

On the night of the twins birth, a girl and a boy were born. To protect the future Queen from the bloody hands of her uncle, the wizards (with the help of a hill witch) performed a skin-binding which - after the killing of the boy child - binded the newborn princess with her dead brother. It provided the girl with the physical appearance of her brother until it was safe to be revealed as the the true ruler and heir of Skala. Thus, Prince Tobin was born.

The rest of the tale is longer and much more complicated; the briefest summary sounds like this:

Tobin grew up ignorant of her true self, living as boy, until she turned 12-years-old. After being told the the truth, Tobin struggled to find her self under the skin of her dead brother. Years passed at court while she stayed hidden, and after a harrowing surprise attack by the Plenimarans it was time for Tobin to reveal herself to the kingdom and claim her rightful throne. After many battles and the killing of her cousin Korin who did not accept her claim, Tobin - renamed by herself as Tamir - became Queen.

Character's Pull from Canon Timeline
The last battle has been fought and won; her cousin killed by her own hand and burned to ashes. A good night's sleep awaits her, her friend and lover Ki by her side. She is sixteen-years-old.
